Energy efficient glazing
All windows and doors are glazed with industry-leading energy efficient double glazed units with a heat reflective coating, Argon filled and utilising toughened glass. This means that the heat from your Studio is retained during the winter and kept out on hot sunny days.
Aluminum joinery
Aluminium windows and doors, powder coated in contemporary Anthracite Grey, give high performance weathering, multi-point locking & internal beading for maximum security and are virtually maintenance free. Aluminium has the added benefit of being the planet’s most abundant metal and is 100% recyclable.
EPDM Roof
A single ply membrane, bonded to form a water-tight roof with a 20 year manufacturer’s guarantee and 50 year expected life, again ensuring that your investment in your garden studio is secure. We utilise Firestone Rubbercover roofing system for a seamless, high performance installation.
Structure
Innovative construction methods are not only more efficient to install and construct than traditional structures, but they afford our Studios the best possible thermal performance too. We use the latest Structurally Insulated Panel System (SIPS) to ensure industry leading structural integrity and ultimately provide a truly habitable year-round environment with insulation to the latest housing regulation standards – our standard wall section is 179mm thick!
Western Red Cedar Cladding
Western Red Cedar cladding is naturally resistant to moisture, decay and insect damage. As a result, it is the ideal wood for outdoor applications without the need for toxic chemical preservatives. In common with all timbers used on our Studios, the Cedar cladding is sourced from sustainably managed forests.
Energy-efficient lighting
We only utilise the highest performance, low energy lighting as standard – 3W warm white LED lamps which use 91% less electricity than an equivalent halogen lamp, saving you money and reducing your carbon footprint. Your Studio is also fitted with polished chrome double power sockets, external lighting and a RCD protected consumer unit.
Fully plastered & decorated
All Green Studios are finished with a sustainable alternative to plaster with a full skim finish and decorated (matt white) interior, though further colours are available on request.
Our sustainable wall finish is made from 100% recycled materials and benefits from improved durability, sound insulation and fire-proofing by comparison with traditional plasterboard. For further practicality, it features incomparable strength allowing you to hang up to 50kg weight from a single screw fixing, making the installation of shelving or wall-mounted TVs incredibly easy!
Adjustable reinforced foundation
We utilise the Swift Plinth foundation system, comprising a number of adjustable, heavy duty pads, each of which is capable of supporting a 2.5 tonne load. This LABC approved system utilises 95% less concrete than a slab foundation, can be re-positioned and re-used and is 100% recyclable!
The Swift Plinth foundation enables air-flow to be maintained under the structure, prolonging it's life as it avoids any contact with ground moisture and aids drainage around the base. With 50mm adjustment in the heavy gauge steel brackets, our standard specification allows us to install easily on slightly sloping sites without any additional site preparation
