Green Studios are a proud supporter of Great Lakes Outreach’s “Future Hope Orphanage” project in Burundi, Central Africa.GLO seeks to help overcome the post-war trauma, providing a voice for the voiceless, breaking the cycle of violence and retribution, and embracing peace, hope and love. It reaches out to the marginalised and desperately needy in whatever humanitarian way appropriate. GLO partners with local organisations to fund sustainable projects that transform lives. One of these is the Future Hope Orphanage.
Future Hope Orphanage, Gitega, Burundi
In the middle of Burundi is a town called Gitega, and just out side of this town is the Future Hope Orphanage. It is a place of calm and safety for some of Burundi’s orphans. There are 27 children at the moment, but eventually there will be over 100. Gradually more houses are being built, and as soon as one is finished another 6 – 8 children can come in. The Home is built as a little village, each house having up to 8 children and a house mum. This will be their family for life. There is a school on site, which also provides for local children, and a medical centre, which once open will provide medical help in an area where there is none. There is a small dairy, so that the children get fresh milk every day. Food is grown in the gardens. There is even an eco-friendly sewerage system filtering through planted reed beds.
