In addition to using the most appropriate materials to align with our primary aim of sustainability (see use of sustainable materials ), we engage in transparent activities to demonstrate our commitment to lowering our carbon footprint and becoming better corporate citizens.
We are by no means there yet and recognise that it will take some time, though we are nevertheless committed and will post updates on our progress here on a regular basis.
Here are some more easily measurable tactics we employ:
- We have set ourselves an aggressive target of halving the amount of waste we send to landfill every year. The construction industry in the UK is responsible for around one third of all waste in the UK and we want to play our part by leading our industry by example.
- We do not produce printed brochures – we only deliver digital brochures and we donate 10p per download (per unique customer) to the Woodland Trust’s “plant-a-tree” campaign.
- We aim to minimise the number of journeys by road and use public transport wherever a suitable service exists.
Furthermore, we encourage our customers to make use of our unique “online consultation” service, in preference to a home visit. - We run a continuous process improvement program to review our building specifications, manufacturing and installation processes to ensure that we maintain and update an action plan which continues to challenge the extent of our commitment to lowering our carbon footprint.
- On the occasions we do put pen to paper, we only print using vegetable oil-based inks on 100% recycled paper
